Matic signs memorandum of cooperation with ITU in Geneva

Minister of Telecommunications and Information Society Jasna Matic and Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Hamadoun Touré signed today in Geneva a Memorandum of understanding.

The Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Society stated that the memorandum is the basis for the implementation of ITU Resolution 70, which was in October adopted this year in Guadalajara.
Matic said that the support of the ITU, as a specialised UN agency, is of great importance, because it paves the way for the resolution to be implemented in all UN member states.
She added that this memorandum is the result of the Ministry’s work in the past two years in the development of telecommunications and information society in Serbia.
UN support was confirmed during meetings held in New York, where the highest representatives of UN bodies dealing with gender equality expressed their willingness to join our initiative, said Matic.
