Serbia, Uruguay defence ministries to conclude agreements on cooperation soon

Minister of Defence Dragan Sutanovac and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uruguay Luis Almagro said today that the talks on concluding the agreement on cooperation between the two countries’ defence ministries are in the final phase and that the agreement might be signed already at the beginning of next year.
A statement by the Ministry of Defence says that Sutanovac familiarised Almagro with the reform of the defence system and professionalisation of the Serbian Army and the progress in military-technical and military-economic cooperation with countries in the region and beyond.
Almagro expressed special interest in Serbia’s military industry and highlighted that armed forces of Uruguay are in the process of equipping and improvement of both knowledge and their political role in society.
Sutanovac and Almagro agreed that respect for international law is of great importance, reads the statement and adds that Sutanovac expressed his appreciation to Almagro for Uruguay’s principled stance regarding Kosovo-Metohija.
