This conference, hosted by the German ministries of health and economic cooperation, is also dedicated to the World Health Report of the WHO and will last until 23 November.
Serbian Minister of Health Tomica Milosavljevic is attending this meeting, which brings together representatives from many governmental and nongovernmental organisations.
The main message of the conference is that all countries, regardless of the level of development, should boost their health care financing so that more people could use state health services.
Director of WHO Regional Office for Europe Margaret Chan said that medical treatment should not lead anyone to bankruptcy, which is why the state should set aside more funds in the budget for health services and health insurance.
The WHO recommends three ways to increase health financing: increasing health funds, more fair raising of funds and more efficient spending, with the main message that good health is the foundation of prosperity and sustainable social and economic development.
