Speaking about Kosovo-Metohija, Kostunica said that two thirds of Kosovo-Metohija Serbs have been forced to leave their homes, while those who remain in the province have been deprived of their basic human rights.
Hoon said that the safety of the local Serb community is the biggest problem in Kosovo-Metohija and called for creating conditions for the return of displaced Serbs.
Kostunica said that interim institutions in Kosovo-Metohija have failed to protect Serbs in the province and called for providing additional institutional guarantees for local Serbs. Kosovo-Metohija is an integral part of Serbia-Montenegro, the Prime Minister went on to say, noting that Belgrade must be directly involved in power decentralisation talks, in line with UN Security Council Resolution 1244.
Kosovo-Metohija must be a multiethnic society that observes human rights, said Hoon, adding that the province requires a lasting and functional solution.
The two officials agreed that Serbia-Montenegro must observe its international obligations, pledging readiness to further improve defence cooperation between the two countries.
