Serbia, Switzerland sign social insurance agreement

Minister of Labour and Social Policy Rasim Ljajic and Swiss Ambassador to Serbia Erwin Hofer signed an Agreement on Social Insurance between their two countries today in Belgrade.

The Ministry says in a statement that the Agreement will bring order into the pension and disability insurance sector, health insurance, insurance in case of injuries at work and occupational diseases.
Thanks to this Agreement, several tens of thousands of Serbian citizens working in Switzerland will be able to exercise all rights pertaining to social insurance, including the right to a pension.
The Agreement includes solutions harmonised with the changes in Serbian and Swiss national laws, as well as the latest European standards in social insurance, bearing in mind that the previous such agreement Serbia and Switzerland had signed was as far back as 1982, the statement adds.
