Greece backs Serbia’s European perspective

Minister of Defence Dragan Sutanovac and his Greek counterpart Evangelos Venizelos spoke yesterday in Thessaloniki about improvement of relations between the two countries, bilateral military cooperation and the safety situation in the region.
Sutanovac expressed gratitude to Venizelos for Greece’s principled position regarding Kosovo-Metohija. He recalled that a large number of Serbian officers and cadets studied in Greece and said that Serbia is welcoming Greek officers to come to study at the Military Academy and other institutions of higher military education in Serbia.
Venizelos underlined that Greece strongly supports Serbia’s European perspective and wishes that Serbia takes its rightful place.
He highlighted that the position of Greece on Kosovo-Metohija is well known and added that his country is present in the southern Serbian province because it wants to contribute to the stability of the region with its troops.
The Greek Defence Minister voiced his hope that a solution will be found for Kosovo-Metohija within the scope of international law which will be acceptable for all, especially for Serbia.
As part of his two-day visit to Greece, Sutanovac attended a ceremony yesterday in Polikastro observing the 92nd anniversary of the Thessaloniki Front, held near a monument that was erected in honour of the great victory of the Allied Powers there, reads a statement by the Serbian Ministry of Defence.
