Bill on consumer protection under emergency procedure

The Serbian government adopted a Bill on consumer protection at today’s session and forwarded it to parliament under emergency procedure.
The new law, which will be enforced on 1 January 2011, introduces key European directives regarding consumer protection and establishes a legal framework which will enable consumer protection in Serbia to be in line with European standards.
The government also adopted a Bill on shipping and ports on inland waters, a Bill on the transport of hazardous cargo and a Bill on amendments to the Law on influence on the environment.
The government adopted a Bill on amendments to the Law on protection against noise in the environment, a Bill on amendments to the Law on protection of nature and a Bill on amendments to the Law on waste management.
The cabinet also adopted a Decision on establishing the Council for the development of underdeveloped areas.
