BIA cuts off international smuggling route

The Security and Intelligence Agency (BIA) stated that it has managed to cut off an international smuggling route for automatic weapons and explosives through which these items were distributed from the Balkans to Paris.
The statement adds that the clampdown was the result of several months’ investigation and was conducted in a joint operation with French intelligence services and in cooperation with the Prosecutor for Organised Crime.
Police administrations in Cacak and Kraljevo have so far arrested seven persons, while three more were apprehended in Paris, the statement reads, adding that a considerable amount of weaponry has been seized in France and Serbia.
The Serbian and French security services are working intensively to take the remaining members of the criminal group into custody, the statement concludes.
