Nikola Tesla’s birthday declared Science Day in Serbia

The Ministry of Science and Technological Development stated today that the government has declared 10 June, Nikola Tesla’s birthday, Science Day in Serbia.
Minister of Science and Technological Development Bozidar Djelic emphasised that this decision was made in response to an initiative by his Ministry. He announced that a proposal to declare 10 June as International Science Day will be presented before the UN and UNESCO.
Serbia must make its place in the 21st century as a country which recognises the importance of the knowledge economy. Serbia plans to invest nearly €800 million in scientific and technological projects over the next four years, underlined Djelic.
It will be recalled that Serbian President Boris Tadic suggested during his recent visit to Croatia that the two countries should make joint efforts to have 10 June declared Science Day throughout the world, concluded Djelic.
