Djokic said that this investment, the value of which is nearly RSD 190 million, will result in establishing a better link between eastern and western parts of the city and the district, and will also increase the general safety of traffic, reduce pollution and noise emission.
The State Secretary pointed out that the aim of the ministry is to invest in infrastructure to enable Serbian cities to become drivers of the development of the entire region.
The works are financed within the programme of the NIP and the European Investment Bank (EIB) "Let’s Build Together". The project includes works on a 58 metre railway overpass and extending Nikole Pasica Blvd. by 775 metres.
Djokic also announced the reconstruction of the National Theatre in Leskovac, and stressed the importance of this cultural institution for Leskovac and southern Serbia.
Since the last reconstruction of the theatre took place about 40 years ago, the Ministry will include the reconstruction of the theatre on the third list of projects that will soon be sent to the EIB for final approval.
He stressed that it is reasonable to expect that this project will be approved as technical documentation is ready.
