Serbian, Croatian, Slovenian railway companies to form alliance

Minister of Infrastructure Milutin Mrkonjic, Slovenian Minister of Transportation Patrick Vlacic and Croatian Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure Bozidar Kalmeta reached agreement on the formation of an alliance of railway companies from the three states to make railway transport more efficient, cost-effective and speedier.

The Ministry states that the agreement was reached on 26 July in Brdo pri Kranju, Slovenia, while a contract on establishing a joint company will be signed on 30 July in Belgrade.
The Ministers noted that setting up such a company is a proper way to eliminate current weaknesses hampering the efficiency of railway companies, such as complicated and slow procedures at border crossings when it comes to customs, phytosanitary and veterinary control.
The participants in the meeting agreed that the railway transport of goods through these three countries takes too long which is why none of the three national railway companies is competitive.
The future joint company will be located in Ljubljana, in line with the norms of the EU. More countries will be invited to join this project on railway Corridor 10.
