Kostunica said that Serbia-Montenegro has opted for European integration, stressing that a feasibility study for the state union of Serbia-Montenegro should be completed by spring of next year.
He pointed out that the Serbian government’s priorities are European integration, the rule of law, reform of the judiciary and public administration, creating favourable conditions for investment in the economy and overall economic development.
During the talks, the Prime Minister pointed to the difficult position of the Serb community in Kosovo-Metohija, with their elementary human rights being violated, and said that implementation of the Serbian government’s Plan would provide a more peaceful and safer life for Serbs and other non-Albanians in Kosovo-Metohija.
Asselborn, whose country will preside over the European Union (EU) as of January 1, 2005, gave support for the preservation of Serbia-Montenegro’s state union and its European integration, pledging full respect for human rights in Kosovo-Metohija.
