All elements of civil society must take part in social dialogue

The Ministry of Labour and Social Policy stated that State Secretary Snezana Lakicevic took part in a regional conference in Ohrid today, organised by the International Labour Organisation.
The statement adds that Lakicevic said at the gathering that there is no alternative to constructive and sincere dialogue between social partners, backed by the state’s utmost support, especially in a time of crisis.
Our experience so far shows that the best results in the struggle to mitigate the effects of the crisis were achieved by those countries which attained even a minimal social consensus on the path towards recovery and the social price that has to be paid in order to revive the economy, she observed.
Lakicevic noted that social dialogue is a complex process which requires teamwork, knowledge and readiness to compromise with other social partners until final agreement is reached.
Any dialogue must show goodwill, as well as the capability and creativity of all partners because the problems we are faced with during the crisis are not negligible and cannot be solved in the short term.
Lakicevic underlined that the Serbian Socio-Economic Council fulfils important preconditions for successfully leading such social dialogue in Serbia, adding that this dialogue has to encompass all levels, from national to local.
All interested and relevant stakeholders in civil society must take part in such dialogue, Lakicevic concluded.
