Serbian police assists the UK in fight against child pornography

The Serbian Ministry of the Interior stated that the Department for Hi-Tech Crime, in cooperation with the UK police and the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP) gathered operational data indicating that a considerable number of persons from the UK engage in the distribution of video pornography over the Internet made by exploiting minors.
As part of the international police action “Armageddon” against child pornography on the Internet, the Serbian Ministry of the Interior obtained part of the evidence material that was distributed over the Internet and data that was used for the identification and location of perpetrators in the territory of the United Kingdom.
Having viewed the acquired material, the Serbian Ministry of the Interior sent it to competent police units in the UK. It was determined that this included videos and other electronic material showing vulgar sexual abuse of children.
Based on the gathered data, several persons from the UK have been identified and taken into custody, the statement reads, adding that an investigation is under way and more arrests are anticipated.
The Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) thanked members of the Department for Hi-Tech Crime at the Ministry of the Interior for the data it received.
