Six members of Interior Ministry’s security department in South Africa

The Serbian Interior Ministry stated today that at an invitation from the South African Interior Ministry, six members of the Serbian Interior Ministry’s public security department travelled to South Africa on 31 May, to help local police with security tasks.
Serbian security personnel will stay in South Africa for the duration of the Serbian national football team’s stay there for the World Cup, and their travel, accommodation and food expenses will be paid by the South African police centre.
Members of the Serbian police force will act as liaison officers. They will also support the South African police service and will be in communication with the Serbian team and fans.
Four members of the Serbian police, two members of the public security department and one each from the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit and the Counter-Terrorism Unit will be directly responsible for the security of the Serbian team during the World Cup.
Maximum security measures have been put in place in order to ensure that events similar to attacks by extremists on football players of the African Nations Cup will not be repeated.
