Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica met with representatives of the Russian Rinko Holding investment group in Belgrade today, highlighting the importance of cooperation between Serbia-Montenegro and Russia.
The Prime Minister called for improving relations between the two countries, particularly their economic ties, and invited Russian companies to boost their presence in the Serbian market.
Rinko Holding officials expressed interest in investing in the Serbian energy and gas sectors as part of attempts to build on their substantial investment in South Eastern Europe.
Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Radomir Naumov also attended the meeting, noting that the clearing debt agreement between Serbia and Russia has paved the way for a number of new projects between the two countries. According to him, Russian Lukoil and Gazprom have joined some projects as well.
Russian Ambassador to Serbia-Montenegro Alexander Alexeiev also took part in the meeting.
