First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic met with member of the Italian parliamentary Committee for Foreign Affairs and former justice minister Piero Fassino today.

It was stated at the meeting that Serbia and Italy have friendly relations and excellent cooperation between their prosecutors’ offices as well as their justice and interior ministries.
Dacic said that that there is particularly good cooperation in the areas of emergency response and traffic police management.
Fassino said that he sees Euro-Atlantic integration of the entire Western Balkans as the solution for all current problems regarding regional stability and security in the region.
He pointed out that the most sensitive problems of the Balkans at this moment are the stability of Bosnia-Herzegovina and the issue of Kosovo-Metohija.
Referring to the situation in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Dacic said that preservation of peace and respect for the Dayton Accords and the will of all three peoples is the most important aspect. He said that no solution should be imposed by force.
Dacic reiterated that the issue of Kosovo-Metohija should by no means be an obstacle to Serbia’s integration into Europe.
Dacic and Fassino agreed that Serbia’s accession to the EU and the region’s European integration should be accelerated.
