The Ministry has called on other state bodies and public institutions, companies, other organisations and individuals to take part in the campaign and thus give their contribution to environmental protection.
This is the second time Serbia has joined the Earth Hour campaign, which is organised by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
The campaign was launched in Australia in 2007, when 2.2 million households and companies in Sydney turned off the lights for one hour.
One year later this turned into a mass movement, with almost 100 million participants in 35 countries.
Last year the campaign gathered over one billion people from 88 states. More than 25 cities and municipalities from Serbia were among them.
