Cooperation with Serbia of outstanding importance for Israel

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management stated that from 8 to 10 March Minister Sasa Dragin led a Ministry delegation on a visit to Israel.
The statement adds that the delegation included President of the Vojvodina Executive Council Bojan Pajtic and directors of several institutes and companies dealing in agriculture and food production.
During the visit to Israel, Dragin met with Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Shalom Simhon and discussed the beginning of the implementation of an interstate Agreement on Cooperation in Agriculture between Serbia and Israel. They also shared experiences regarding agrarian policy that may be useful to both countries.
Simhon said at the meeting that Israel is interested in establishing systemic cooperation in agriculture with Serbia by increasing trade in such products, exchanging experts, participating in seminars and trade shows, as well as through programmes of scientific-technological cooperation in the production and processing of agricultural products.
Over the last few years Israel has been focused on cooperation with countries in South-eastern Europe, especially with Serbia, he added.
During his visit Minister Dragin also met with Israeli Minister of Trade, Industry and Employment Benjamin Ben-Eliezer and discussed the economic situation in Serbia and Israel.
The Serbian delegation also visited Israeli scientific institutions and companies which voiced interest in establishing cooperation with Serbian partners from the same remit.
Minister Dragin also visited the Yad Vashem Museum and on behalf of the Serbian government laid a wreath to the monument to the victims of holocaust, the statement adds.
