Fifth ministerial conference on environment, health in Parma

The Ministry of Health announced that the fifth ministerial conference on environment and health dedicated to preserving the health of children in conditions of a changing environment started yesterday in Parma, Italy.
The Serbian delegation is led by Minister of Health Tomica Milosavljevic and includes State Secretary of Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning Ivica Radovic and representatives of these two ministries.
On 12 March, Milosavljevic will chair the plenary session which will be devoted to climate change and health.
In addition to other good examples, the good experience of the Serbian Ministry of Health in the implementation of the project “Energy Efficiency in Serbia” will also be presented.
This project included the closing of 17 coal and heavy fuel oil firerooms in the biggest Serbian hospital, the Clinical Centre of Serbia, and the opening of one gas fireroom instead. This reduced the emission of carbon dioxide by half, eliminated the emission of sulphur dioxide into the atmosphere and reduced energy consumption by one-third.
In 2007 this project was declared by the World Bank the “Greenest project in the world”, due to energy savings and reduction in environmental pollution.
