Ljajic presented the steps the government is taking in social care reform and the passing of new laws on pension and invalidity insurance and salaries in the public sector.
Speaking about social care reform, the Minister said that a new law on social care is to be passed this year that will regulate all kinds of social contributions and enable better targeting of users, which will lead to a more just distribution of funds.
He said that social contributions in 2010 will be regular, although they will not be increased.
Representatives of the Serbian government and the IMF have reached agreement regarding most articles of the new pension and disability insurance law and a few more details remain to be settled in the next round of talks, said Jaeger.
Jaeger and Ljajic agreed that the announcement of a new law on public sector salaries is good news, as it will lead to increased uniformity of salaries for similar work in various areas and also principles will be established for determining salaries in accordance to employee performance.
They also said that they hope that the current round of negotiations between the IMF and Serbian government representatives will be concluded successfully.
