Lakicevic to attend European Women’s Forum in Cadiz

President of the Serbian government’s Council for Gender Equality and State Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy Snezana Lakicevic will attend a two-day ministerial conference of the European Women’s Forum that will be held on February 4 and 5 in Cadiz.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy says that Spain - which took over the EU Presidency at the beginning of the year - pays great attention to gender equality, which is why this topic is one of the main points of Spain’s EU presidency.
The conference in Cadiz - which is being organised by the Spanish Ministry for Gender Equality - will gather representatives of all 27 EU member states, EU candidate countries, national parliaments and the European Parliament, the European Commission, the European Association of Women and many non-governmental organisations.
The topics of the conference will include advances made in the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action for Women: which was adopted in 1995, equal employment opportunities for women: covering their salaries, education and health. Lakicevic will present efforts made by Serbia to round up the legislative framework that would guarantee gender equality, as well as the progress of Serbia in creating greater inclusion of women in decision-making processes at all levels, along with improvement of their economical position.
The conference will be attended by Director of the Administration for Gender Equality of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy Natalija Micunovic and member of the Council for Gender Equality Nevena Petrusic from the Law School in Nis.
