In the letter, the Prime Minister says:
After the March pogrom, the Parliament of Serbia adopted a Resolution on Kosovo-Metohija and the Decision on the Plan for the Political Solution for the Situation in Kosovo-Metohija, obliging the Serbian government to carry out its policy towards Kosovo-Metohija based on this Plan. Also, the same decision has obliged other state institutions to use this Plan as a starting point when performing their duties related to Kosovo-Metohija.
After the elections for provisional institutions in Kosovo-Metohija, the Serbian government has adopted a Conclusion, calling for a continuation of talks on decentralisation of power in Kosovo-Metohija and pointed to the need for finding a way to provide institutional protection of the Serb community in the province.
In accordance with the Resolution and the Decision of the parliament and the Conclusion of the government, it is necessary to arrange a meeting of state officials of Serbia to discuss the current situation and take concrete steps towards the implementation of the Plan.
I suggest that the following officials should attend the meeting:
- President of the Republic of Serbia
- Speaker of the Parliament of Serbia
- Serbia-Montenegrin Minister of Foreign Affairs
- Whips of the parliamentary political parties in the Parliament of Serbia
- Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia
- Head of the Coordinating Centre for Kosovo-Metohija
The meeting should be held at the Serbian government building on Friday, November 5, and it should be followed by a meeting with representatives of Serbs from Kosovo-Metohija, reads the letter from Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica.
