Prime Minister in the caretaker Government of the Republic of Serbia Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, chaired today a session of the Council for the Coordination of Activities and Measures for the Growth of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), at which it was noted that real GDP growth in the second quarter of 2026 was 3.8 percent, by which Serbia achieved one of the highest growth rates in Europe.

Macut said that it is necessary to continue with responsible economic policy, accelerate the implementation of capital projects and further support sectors that contribute to sustainable growth and an increase in the living standard of citizens.
It was highlighted at the session that year-on-year inflation is 2.2 percent, which confirms the preservation of macroeconomic stability and favourable trends in the domestic economy, with positive results recorded in the field of tourism, where the total number of overnight stays increased.
The construction sector is also growing, while the implementation of 20 capital investment projects of importance for the further economic development of the country is underway.
Favourable trends in the labour market were highlighted, considering that the unemployment rate is 7.2 percent and is at a historical minimum.
At the session it was assessed that it is necessary to continue carefully monitoring trends in all key economic sectors and strengthen coordination of competent institutions in order to maintain the dynamics of economic growth.
