Having consulted President Boris Tadic and Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic today, the government decided to send a response to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) regarding Croatia’s genocide suit against Serbia concerning the conflicts from 1991 until 1995, as well as to file a countersuit.
The government statement reads that Serbia made this decision because on July 2, 1999, Croatia filed a suit with the ICJ in the Hague against the then Socialist Republic of Yugoslavia on account of the violation of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide during armed conflicts on Croatian territory in the period 1991–1995.
