National Council for Cooperation with ICTY responds to requests from prosecution

The National Council for Cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) decided at its session today to submit documentation requested by the Tribunal's Prosecutor's Office and indictees defence attorneys.
The National Council concluded that 2009 has been the most successful year so far in the cooperation of Serbia with the ICTY, which can be seen in the reports of the ICTY President and the Chief Prosecutor.
In those reports it is stated explicitly that there have been no requests to which the National Council did not respond in a timely manner. The requests referred to submitting documentation, gaining access to the archives of state organs, freeing witnesses from the obligation of keeping secrets and other issues from the field of competence of the National Council for Cooperation with that tribunal.
The National Council will continue to respond promptly to requests from the Tribunal's Prosecutor's Office and defence attorneys.
