Serbia-Montenegro, India to improve economic ties

Belgrade, 28 October 2004

Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica and Indian Minister of Science, Technology and Development Kapil Sibal met today to discuss economic relations between the two countries.

Kostunica called for improving cooperation in all sectors, particularly bilateral economic relations, stressing that the Serbian government is determined to build democratic institutions, achieve the rule of law and create an investment-friendly environment.

Sibal said that his visit to Serbia-Montenegro aims to help improve the two countries' economic relations, adding that Indian businessmen are interested in investing in the state union.

As part of the two sides' efforts to improve economic relations, Serbian Minister of Economy Predrag Bubalo will visit India, while the Indian Minister of Tourism is due to visit Belgrade.
