Realisation of the "Providing Advanced Services at the Local Level (DILS)" project

On the occasion of the start of the project "Providing Advanced Services at the Local Level (DILS)" , representatives of the Serbian Ministry of Health held a regional meeting with representatives of local self-governments, public health institutes and community health centres of 16 Belgrade municipalities.
The municipalities in question are Barajevo, Vozdovac, Vracar, Grocka, Zvezdara, Zemun, Lazarevac, Mladenovac, Novi Beograd, Obrenovac, Palilula, Rakovica, Savski Venac, Sopot, Stari Grad and Cukarica.
The meeting was attended by State Secretary of the Ministry of Health Nevena Karanovic, City Secretary for Health Zoran Blagojevic and representative of the Permanent Conference of Cities and Municipalities Nenad Milenkovic, among others.
The DILS project is being implemented with the support of a World Bank loan worth €12.5 million, which will be released over the next four years, from September 2009 to December 2012.
The aim of the project is to assist the reform of the primary health care system (through decentralisation, informatisation, patient choice of General Practitioner, the capitation system in the financing and accreditation of health institutions) and to boost the capacities of institutions with the aim of increasing the availability, efficiency, balance and quality of medical services at the local level.
Regional meetings presenting the DILS project and helping to establish the project with local partners were also held in Kragujevac, Novi Sad, Nis and Belgrade.
