The Serbian government stated today that the decision by the EU council of interior and justice ministers to remove visa restrictions for Serbian citizens from December 19 is a clear political affirmation of Serbia’s European future.
This decision is the result of long years of work to fulfil our obligations from the EU visa liberalisation road map and is recognition that Serbia has made progress in its fight against organised crime and corruption and has established better border controls, that it has improved document security and human rights protection.
This decision is also encouragement of and support for Serbia to make the further steps required to join the EU, it was stated at today’s government session.
