MacShane said that the United Kingdom fully supports Serbia-Montenegro's efforts to join the EU, but noted that the state union must meet its international obligations on the EU integration path.
Commenting on the local election in Kosovo-Metohija, the Prime Minister said that the low turnout of local Serbs reflects the lack of basic human rights for the Serb community there.
He also called for resuming a dialogue with Contact Group countries to discuss a proposal from the Serbian government for institutional guarantees for Kosovo-Metohija Serbs.
For his part, MacShane called on Belgrade and Pristina to pick up their dialogue to address technical issues, including the fate of the missing, the return of the displaced, transport, energy and security, adding that Kosovo-Metohija's economy must be developed further.
