266 H1N1 cases in Serbia

The Public Health Institute Milan Jovanovic Batut stated that 266 cases of the flu caused by the new type A virus (H1N1) have been registered in Serbia.
The statement adds that according to the National Reference Laboratory for Respiratory Viruses at the Torlak Virology and Immunology Institute, on November 11 at 8 pm the eighth death caused by the new flu was recorded in Serbia, adding that 508 persons have been hospitalised with indications of illnesses similar to the flu.
Out of the total number of the infected, 72 cases can be related with travelling and were recorded on the territory of Belgrade, Novi Sad, Nis, Sombor, Srbobran, Nova Pazova, Sabac, Subotica, Kucevo, Kragujevac, Pancevo, Stara Pazova, Sremska Mitrovica, Loznica, Kraljevo, Kikinda, Cacak, Cuprija, Zrenjanin, Vrsac, Prokuplje, Trstenik, Paracin, Pozega, Uzice, Pirot, Smederevo, Sid, Leskovac, Krusevac, Kosovska Mitrovica, Vranje, Valjevo, Arilje and Bajina Basta.
Since the incidence of illnesses similar to that of flu has increased, especially among children of school age, 14 epidemics of flue have been reported.
The epidemics have been reported among population of the South Backa district, South Banat district, in Kraljevo, Pozega, Uzice, Paracin, Sid, and in schools in Cacak, Nis, Prilike, Kragujevac and Leskovac.
All measures against flu envisaged by the plan of activities during the flu pandemic in health institutions, elementary and secondary schools have been taken.
