258 H1N1 cases confirmed in Serbia

The Milan Jovanovic Batut public health institute stated that 258 H1N1 cases have been officially confirmed.
72 cases are connected to travel. The patients come from Belgrade, Novi Sad, Nis, Sombor, Srbobran, Nova Pazova, Sabac, Subotica, Kucevo, Kragujevac, Pancevo, Stara Pazova, Sremska Mitrovica, Loznica, Kraljevo, Kikinda, Cacak, Cuprija, Zrenjanin, Vrsac, Prokuplje, Trstenik, Paracin, Pozega, Uzice, Pirot, Smederevo, Sid, Leskovac, Krusevac, Kosovska Mitrovica, Vranje, Valjevo, Arilje and Bajina Basta.
Based on the established increase in the frequency of illnesses similar to flu, especially among children, with the emergence of several related cases in primary and secondary schools and officially confirmed cases of the new influenza virus, there are twelve reported flu epidemics.
Epidemics have been reported among the population of South Backa District, in Kraljevo, Pozega, Uzice and Paracin as well as in schools in Cacak, Nis, Ivanjica, Prilike, Kragujevac and Leskovac.
All measures have been taken to prevent the spread of the virus in health institutions, elementary and high schools and kindergartens.
