Brammertz praises the work of National Council for Cooperation with ICTY

Minister of Labour and Social Policy and President of the National council for cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) Rasim Ljajic met today with the Tribunal’s chief prosecutor Serge Brammertz, who is on a working visit to Belgrade.

Brammertz praised the work of the Council in terms of the level and quality of cooperation between Serbia and the tribunal.
This refers to provision of documents, access to the archives of state organs, the freeing of witnesses from the obligation of keeping state secrets and all other technical issues.
The two officials agreed that out of 1,838 requests by the ICTY prosecutor’s office to the Serbian state authorities regarding the above mentioned issues, there is not a single one to which it was not responded within the set deadline.
Brammertz said that he will take into account these data when making his six-month report on cooperation, which he will submit to the UN Security Council in December this year.
He said that the only open issue that remains to be resolved is the apprehension of two indictees who are still at large.
