The Council adopted the rules of procedure and elected a secretary, Ana Tomanova-Makanova, who is also president of the national council of the Slovak minority.
The national holidays and symbols were chosen: the coat of arms, flag and holidays of the Macedonian, Romanian, Bulgarian, Ukrainian, Ruthenian, Vlach, Greek and German national minorities, and the coat of arms and the flag of the Slovak national minority.
The state will organise and promote the registering of national minorities in special voters’ lists since they will be thus endorsed to exercise their constitutional freedom to elect their own national councils.
It was agreed that setting up this council is of huge importance when it comes to national minorities and their rights. The national minorities’ councils welcomed the adoption of the laws regulating issues of national minorities’ status.
