Russia might offer financial assistance to Serbia for big investment projects

Serbian Minister of Finance Diana Dragutinovic, who is attending the Annual Meeting of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund in Istanbul, met yesterday with Russian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Alexei Kudrin.
According to a Ministry of Finance statement, the meeting focused on possible financial assistance from Russia to Serbia for the budget and big investment projects.
Kudrin said that Russia is willing to act quickly and, if necessary, modify the current law so that it could release assistance to Serbia this year. He explained that right now Serbia is not on the list of countries that will receive assistance from Russia this year.
Dragutinovic thanked Kudrin for the support which Russia is ready to give to Serbia and highlighted the very important coordinating role of Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexandar Konuzin.
The Minister voiced his hope that the traditionally good friendly relations between the two countries will continue.
The two officials agreed at the meeting that official negotiations will be held this month, after the Annual Meeting of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, added the statement.
