The Council recommended that the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Justice reconsider all laws dealing with violence at sporting events and propose amendments introducing sanctions for all forms of this unacceptable hooligan behaviour.
The Council agreed it is necessary to prevent access to sporting events to all persons that have already been accused of violent behaviour.
It also noted that other state organs must participate in resolving this issue.
Steps taken by the various sports federations in Serbia to prevent violence were also discussed at the session. The programme for the conference “Countering Racism and Violence by Promoting Diversity in Sports” was presented, as well as the rules of procedure regarding the organisation and function of the surveillance department.
The Chair of the Council is Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic and Deputy Chair is First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic. Council deputies are Minister of Youth and Sport Snezana Samardzic-Markovic and Minister of Justice Snezana Malic. Other members of the Council are the Supreme Court Chief Justice, the State Prosecutor, heads of the Serbian football, basketball, handball, volleyball and water polo federations, the Olympic Committee of Serbia, the Serbian Sports Federation and the Serbian Sport Journalists Association.
