The Ministry said in a statement that the IMF delegation was particularly interested in the pension and disability system and social care reforms, as well as new legislation for these sectors.
Speaking about ways of mitigating the effects of the global crisis, Ljajic said that the government proposed both short and long-term measures.
The short-term measures are to help the most vulnerable categories of the population, since the number of citizens living on the breadline has increased, he said.
Ljajic explained that the long-term measures, such as the adoption of the Law on pension insurance and social care, are to create conditions for a more evenly balanced distribution of social care funds through stricter controls and better targeting of vulnerable categories.
When we create these conditions we will no longer need adjustments to the amount of social welfare, Ljajic concluded.
