Samardzic-Markovic congratulates national water polo team

Belgrade, 3 August 2009

Serbian Minister of Youth and Sport Snezana Samardzic-Markovic congratulated the Serbian national water polo team on winning the gold medal at the 2009 World Championships in Rome.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Youth and Sport, the Serbian water polo team triumphed over the Spanish team on penalties, after extra time in a very dramatic match.

“Our return to the top is a great success for our young team which showed its ability to persevere in a very tough game at very crucial moments. On behalf of the Ministry of Youth and Sport and myself I congratulate you on this magnificent success and thank you for bringing joy to the entire nation,” reads the message from the Minister, who was present at the match to cheer on the players.
