Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica said today during a meeting with Slovakian parliament Speaker Pavol Hrusovsky that relations between Serbia-Montenegro and Slovakia are very good, and that the Slovakian community in Serbia has a special role in the cherishing of the two countries' traditional friendship.
Hrusovsky stressed that during his stay in Serbia-Montenegro he saw that Slovakian minority cherishes its culture, language and tradition. He said that cooperation between the two countries in all fields is on a very high level.
The Serbian Prime Minister highlighted the importance of the functioning of the state union and its integration in the European Union. The conclusions of EU foreign ministers at the meeting held in Maastricht are very encouraging for that process.
Kostunica said that Serbia-Montenegro's feasibility study could be completed in spring next year, which is in the interest of the state union.
Hrusovsky said that Slovakia fully supports Serbia-Montenegro on its path towards the EU.
The meeting also focused on the situation in Kosovo-Metohija, especially on the difficult situation of the Serb community, which is deprived of basic human rights, first and foremost of the right to life and freedom of movement.
