Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica met with Swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs Laila Freivalds today, highlighting the importance of strengthening the state union of Serbia-Montenegro on its European Union integration path and welcoming the support which EU foreign ministers pledged at the Maastricht meeting.
Freivalds said that Sweden will offer its full support for Serbia-Montenegro's efforts to integrate into the EU, noting that it is essential that Kosovo-Metohija reach international human and minority rights standards.
Kostunica reiterated that institutional guarantees are a key precondition for the safety, survival and return of Kosovo-Metohija Serbs to the province.
The two officials also pledged to bolster bilateral economic cooperation and announced that a business delegation from Sweden will visit Belgrade in November.
