Belgrade to host UNEP meeting

The Serbian Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning stated that Serbia, having assumed a two year presidency of the Governing Council of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), will host a meeting of a consultative group of ministers and state officials. The meeting, concerning international environmental managemenet, will be held from June 27 to 28.
According to the statement the meeting will be held at the House of Parliament and Serbian Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning Oliver Dulic, who is President of the UNEP Governing Council, will chair the session.
The opening of the meeting will be attended by UN Under Secretary General and UNEP Executive Director Achim Steiner as well as environment ministers from nearly 40 countries.
Ministerial consultations about future steps for improving international environmental management will be held at the meeting. Viable solutions for the future role of the UN concerning the environment and sustainable development will be presented.
The Belgrade Declaration will be adopted at the meeting, which will present guidelines for reforming international environmental management.
