Also present at the talks was Montenegrin Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Telecommunications Andrija Lompar.
Mrkonjic, Lompar and Italian Minister for Economic Development Claudio Scajola signed today a Memorandum of understanding for implementing a feasibility study for reconstruction of the Belgrade-Bar railroad.
The agreement will improve trade between Serbia, Montenegro and Italy and increase the volume of trade.
The Belgrade-Bar line will be of strategic importance for Serbian transport to the Montenegrin port of Bar, as well as for Italian and Montenegrin transport on the Pan-European Corridor 10.
According to the agreement ministers from the three countries will be in charge of the technical and financial studies related to the modernization of the Belgrade-Bar rail line.
The memorandum also includes a decision about the study “The Development of Economic Relations between Southern Italy with the Balkans” which is being promoted by the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance and which stresses the need to improve the Belgrade-Bar rail line.
