The participants in the conference, held on Friday, were representatives of the Water Directorate of the Serbian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, the Agency for Development of Infrastructure and Local Self-Government, the Hydrometereological Institute, the Permanent Conference of Cities and Municipalities, and the Vode Vojvodine public company.
A statement by the Directorate for Environmental Protection said that the conference was also attended by representatives of a number of international organisations and foreign embassies in Belgrade - USAID, the European Agency for Reconstruction, the German Technical Cooperation Agency (GTZ), the United Nations Development Programme, KfW, the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation, the Greek consultancy company for environment LDK ECO, the Italian Ministry of Environment and Territory Preservation. Representatives of the embassies of Finland, France, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands and Austria were also present.
Following the presentation of priorities and current situation and problems in the field of water management, the participants discussed ways of finding new possibilities for financing the programmes and projects proposed.
The conference was described as very useful, since this is the first meeting of this kind which was attended by representatives of all sectors of state institutions responsible for water preservation, read the statement.
