Government adopts bill on regional development

At its session today the Serbian government adopted the bill on regional development. The law has been adopted with the aim of achieving comprehensive and sustainable socio-economic development and the reduction of regional differences and negative demographic trends.
According to this bill the following regions have been specified for development: Vojvodina, Belgrade, the Western, Eastern, Central and Southern regions and Kosovo.
The bill on affirming the scientific and technological cooperation agreement between the governments of Serbia and China was also adopted.
The government adopted the Memorandum on the Budget and Fiscal Policy for 2010 with projections for 2011 and 2012, envisaging the consolidated state sector deficit in 2010 to be 2.6% of GDP.
The Memorandum for the first time introduces a limitation of expenses for 2010 to budget beneficiaries, which will considerably advance and facilitate negotiations and the adoption of the budget.
The government also adopted the decision to draft a spatial plan for a special purpose area of key state roads, Novi Sad–Ruma–Sabac and Sabac–Loznica.
