The Ministry of trade and services stated that the Serbian parliament today adopted the laws on general product safety and E-commerce in accordance with EU standards.
According to the statement the two laws are of great importance for the continuation of the process of synchronizing Serbian laws to EU legislation.
The law on E-commerce will help open several thousand new jobs and enable Serbian citizens to enjoy the advantages of online shopping.
This law is extremely important for the development of trade at a time of rapidly growingly information technology. Its purpose is to provide legal safety for all sides involved in the electronic trade of goods and services.
The general product safety law will introduce European regulations on product safety into the Serbian legal system. It also envisages the introduction of an internal system of quick exchange of information about unsafe products. This system will be integrated into the EU rapid alert system for all dangerous consumer products, RAPEX.
The law obliges manufacturers and distributers to place only safe products on the market and to continually monitor them and forbids the import, export and sale of defective and dangerous products in order to ensure maximum consumer protection.
