The council’s main aim is to initiate and suggest measures for preventing violence and aggression in sport.
Since violence is an inevitable part of sports events in Serbia, the state decided to react by setting up the council for its prevention.
The Ministries of Youth and Sports, Interior and Justice, together with sports associations, concluded that activities against violent behaviour must be intensified.
Deputy President of the council will be First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic while deputy presidents will be Minister of Youth and Sport Snezana Samardzic-Markovic and Minister of Justice Snezana Malovic.
Members of the council will be acting public prosecutor Slobodan Radovanovic, acting president of the Supreme Court Nata Mesarovic, chair of parliament’s committee for youth and sport Milan Vuckovic, president of the Serbian Football Association Tomislav Karadzic and president of the Serbian Basketball Association Dragan Kapicic.
Also members are president of the Serbian Handball Association Velimir Marjanovic, president of the Serbian Volleyball Association Aleksandar Boricic, president of the Serbian Water Polo Association Velibor Sovrovic, president of the Association of Sports Journalists Vladimir Dedic, president of the Serbian Olympic Committee Vlade Divac and president of the Serbian Sports Association Vojislav Tabacki.
