Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica met today with former French Foreign Minister Hubert Vedrine and discussed the strengthening of the state union of Serbia-Montenegro, the situation in Kosovo-Metohija and the difficult position of the Serbs in the province.
Kostunica stressed that the Serbian government's Plan for Kosovo-Metohija envisages the protection of basic human rights of the Serbs in the province. He pointed to the need of securing institutional guarantees as a precondition for their survival, safety and return.
Vedrine highlighted the importance of Serbia-Montenegro's integration in the European Union. He said that the French public wants to see Serbia-Montenegro become part of Europe.
