Ljajic meets with Brammertz

Serbian Minister of Labour and Social Policy and President of the National Council for Cooperation with the ICTY Rasim Ljajic talked today with Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz who is visiting Belgrade.
According to a statement issued by the National Council, it was said at the meeting that cooperation regarding access to documents and archives of Serbian state organs is satisfactory.
Brammertz stressed that the main issue is the arrest and handing over of the remaining two Hague indictees.
Commenting on Serbia’s initiative for making it possible for those sentenced by the Hague tribunal to serve prison terms in their respective countries, Brammertz said that at the moment he cannot support this initiative. He said that one of the reasons for this is the reaction to the decision made by the ICTY Appeals Chamber in the case of Mrksic and Sljvancanin.
Brammertz said that his report to the UN Security Council in June should present an accurate account of all aspects of cooperation between Serbia and the Hague tribunal as well as his impressions during the current visit to Belgrade.
