Serbia, Iran to boost economic cooperation

Serbian Minister of Trade Slobodan Milosavljevic and Iranian Commerce Minister Masoud Mir-Kazemi today pointed to great possibilities for boosting economic cooperation between the two countries, particularly when it comes to agriculture, oil and the petrochemical industry.
According to the Ministry’s statement, Milosavljevic stressed that the Iranian delegation’s visit to Serbia and negotiations regarding the improvement of foreign trade are of vital importance for the development of economic cooperation between Serbia and Iran.
He noted that in this time of crisis Serbia needs new markets, adding that Serbia can offer good quality food products to Iran, as well as mechanical and wood industry products.
The Minister said that Serbia has a surplus of mercantile wheat and a good harvest is expected this year as well, therefore it will be possible to export wheat to Iran.
Mir-Kazemi said that the governments of the two countries should create a positive atmosphere in order to encourage the private sector to cooperate, adding that Iran is a major exporter of oil, construction materials, chemical products, pistachio nut and saffron.
