Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica met today with EU High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana and EU Commissioner Chris Patten.
The EU officials set forth a proposal for overcoming a blockade in the harmonisation of the economic systems of Serbia and Montenegro. The proposal envisages the signing of one EU stabilisation and association agreement with two annexes, which would refer to economic and technical particularities. The two officials said that if this proposal is accepted in Serbia-Montenegro, a feasibility study could be completed soon.
Kostunica welcomed the proposal and stressed that it is very important for Serbia-Montenegro to remove all obstacles along the joint path to European integration.
Kostunica highlighted the successful functioning of institutions of the state union and called for full compliance with the Constitutional Charter and the Belgrade Agreement.
